History about how time was calculated by previous civilisation or culture

Achaelogical data can give technological sophistication of a culture, intellectual growth is in the form of myths, religion, literature, astronomy, mathematics etc

> Astronomy provide many clocks
*Hours (sun and moon)
*Days (sun)
*Week (moon)
*Forthnight (moon)
*Months (sun and moon)
*Year (sun)
*Five to nineteen year (Eclipse cycle)
*Sixty years (Jupiter and Saturn)
*Hundreds of years (Precession)

*In the previous culture most people uses sun in the morning and after noor to calculate hours in the days and in the evening they uses shadows also to calculate hours and during night they uses moon when is available to calculate hours at night also shadows. They also uses stars to determine time.

*In terms of days they use sun in order to determine that particular day and they name that days as follows (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) after that they keep them in order.

*In terms of weeks they use moon in order to determine that weeks, by grouping them in 7 days so that they can be called weeks as called nowadays by current generation that called Homo Sapiens which are human, I think that was discovered by Homo Sapiens.

*In my perspective I think that was not accurate because sometimes has situation that there's no sun during the day and during night no moon that means sometimes that was not accurate.

Share my view with world on how I view life.

I like to take this moment to share my view with you, on how I view love life and life in general.

In life have people who pretend as if they with you, but in heart they know that they not with you. True friend is someone who is with you always in happiness and in sorrow, true friend is always with you when days dark and when days. The important thing is that how you conduct yourself in friendship because have things that you must tell your friend and others that you cannot tell them.  Most people have stress because of their wrong doings, that they told people. Advice is that you must trust God only, you must not trust anyone. Most people killed themselves because of life stress that they have and they cannot take it anymore and they decided to kill themselves but to kill yourself is not a right choice.

In most cases you love people that you think she/he love you, but she/he know that is not really love you, some people love you conditionally, love is not about money or sex, that things is just addition especially money and most people think sex is something that shows you how person love you, but that is just to make love and have fun, love is not always about sex, love is foundation of happiness, love is all about exchange of heart, love is something that gives some people happiness, love is not about what you receive but is about what you, in most cases we date people that aren't right for us, some people do that because they disparate, others they do that because of peer pressure and others do that because they see some people do that and happily in love, some be fortunate, but some make big mistake.

This is right time for change, you must change before is be too late, we must not do things because we see people do them, without any idea of what are their expectations, we take our time to visualize things before we take actions and we must not take actions that we will regret at the end. You can ruin everything that you achieve for more than 5 years in a minute and you must make sure that you take time and watch your tone before you say something and you must not do mistake that will ruin everything and trust that people has in you. Now is time for change our attitude towards life in general and some of us our parents are poor and is not their choice, they disadvantaged but apartheid era but now is our choice to be poor/to be reach and now we fortunate because most of things are free nowadays, some of us our parents did not get this opportunity but we fortunate because have more opportunity but is all about how we receive them.

In conclusion is up to you if you take this advice or not, I hope this will help you a lot in the future and you will get that advice anytime.

Message of encouragement to matric 2015

As matric learner for this year I like to take this moment to share this idea with other matric, as we approach final examination.

Now is our time to do our best in coming final examination because this is opportunity to do our best and make people are with us proud, we must study as much as we can, it is not too late. We must be positive always so that we will get positive things, we must not make our enemies aware of how we feel because if we make them aware when we sad they will be happy.

We must take our studies serious now is our time to show people that we can make it because if we not make it our enemies will be happy and we must make sure that we study SMART not HARD because if we study SMART our examination will be SMART but if we study HARD our examination will be HARD. I hope we will keep this short message into our heart and into our long term memory until the end of examination.

Burnt of COSAS leadership who was Grade 12 learner

Burnt North West Grade 12 learner
to be buried on Saturday
Jun 23 2015 4:58PM

A Grade 12 Eletsa Senior
Secondary School pupil who was
allegedly burnt to death by her
boyfriend's ex-girlfriend will be
buried at Maboloka near Brits in
the North West on Saturday,
classmate Letlhogonolo Modibane
said.

Boitumelo Dhlamini was allegedly
abducted outside the school’s gate
by her boyfriend’s ex girlfriend last
week Thursday.
According to Modibane, Dhlamini
was abducted after writing an
exam, and was taken to Klipgat in
the North West, where she was
allegedly burned to death.

“They took her from the school
gate as she was about to make her
way home. The jealous ex girlfriend
with her accomplices travelled with her to a place called Klipgat where they poured petrol over her and burnt her to death,” Modibane
said.

Modibane described her classmate
as an ambitious and caring
person. “She wanted to achieve a
lot in life. She was very ambitious
and had great potential and always
worked hard at school,” Modibane
said.

North West department of
education spokesperson Elias
Malindi said he was not aware of
the incident.

“I am very shocked to hear this.
We will have to investigate it and
find out more on it,” Malindi said.
The four suspects, three women
and a man, appeared at the Brits
Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Police spokesperson Paul
Ramoloko said the case was
remanded to July 3.

“The suspects will remain in
custody until the 3rd of July where
they will be given an opportunity
to apply for bail,” Ramaloko said.
The Congress of South African
Students (COSAS) have called on
the government to initiate peer
group counselling in schools.
“It is high time the government
embarks on initiating peer group
counselling in our schools and
communities in general to avoid
such outrageous behaviour," Cosas said in a statement.

“We believe initiating peer group
counselling programs is the only
way to deal with internal matters
young people face in their daily
lives,” Cosas said.
Cosas secretary general Khulekani
Skosana said had there been
security in place at the school’s
gate it would have been noted that
Dhlamini had been taken without
her will.

“Had there been proper
mechanisms to deal with school
transport for learners to and from
school this could have been
avoided. The government should
also have security outside all
schools," Skosana said.

“We as Cosas have taken the
initiative to go and find these
perpetrators and we will do to
them what they have done to
Boitumelo. We must not find these
culprits first, the police must find
them first. If we find them first, we
will burn these satanic behaving
people,” Skosana added.

COSAS political lecture and leadership training

POLITICAL LECTURE AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Conducted by:Thatoyaone Moepetsane

THEME:MEMBER AND LEADERSHIP WITHOUT POLITICAL UNDERSTANDING IS DANGEROUS TO THE REVOLUTION.

"BACK TO BASIC, FROM INTENTION TO ACTION"

BUILDING CONSCIOUS ACADEMICS TO ADVANCE THE FREEDOM CHARTER !!!

POLITICAL LECTURE

COngress of South African Students was established in June 1979 ad a national organization to represent the interests of black school students in the wake of the Soweto uprising. COSAS organized students from secondary and high school. As well as technical, teacher training and correspondence colleges. Soon after their formation, the organization set up branches in the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Transvaal, Orange Free State and Natal. This organization was established to campaign the interests of black school students, COSAS is the first organization to adopt the freedom charter. Other students organizations also assisted COSAS with establishing its branches in their areas.

COSAS first president was Cde Ephraim Mogale who was African National Congress member and was later to be convicted of furthering the aims of African National Congress, at the time of its formation the African National Congress was banned along other liberation movement under the unlawful Act. A guiding principle for COSAS was the view that the African National Congress was authentic liberation movement of South Africa.

In first two years COSAS took up two commemorative campaigns that authorities as ANC-supporting; the 1979 hanging of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) guerrilla Cde Solomon (Kalusha) Mahlangu and centenary of Zulu victory over British troops at Isandhlwana.

We us COSAS members we must join the African National Congress if we have 18 years and above, but if you have 14 years and above you can join ANC Youth League and YCL-SA, if you Anti-ANC that means you dangerous and you will always oppose organizational aim to rescue African National Congress and its leadership. We as COSAS members and leadership we must start to learn that branch is the basic unity of the organization. Our tusk is to mobilize learners to join our progressive organization.

COSAS recognized that Bantu Education was aimed at controlling and indoctrinating youth and that could change only by transforming the country's entire political system. Although it was primarily education focused, COSAS identified the relationship between educational and social transformation in its statement of beliefs:

> Students must be organized through democratically elected SRC's that known as RCL's nowadays in the schools.
> Students must serve the community, we are members of society before we are students and thereby show that students can play a progressive role in a broad democratic alliance.
> In serving the community, there must be a recognition that students play only a limited role in the overall struggle.
>The duty of the students was to lend support to trade unions and community organizations.

In 1982, COSAS adopted the theme; "Students-worker action" and promoted the formation of youth congresses to serve the interests of young workers and unemployed youth. These facilitated cooperation between school students, young workers and the unemployed youth. This had the dual effect of drawing COSAS into issues which affected young workers and the unemployed youth and drawing the congresses into school-related struggles. The organization provided essential support to striking workers and community struggles around issues such as transport increases, rent hikes and other issues concerning society and students in general.

We as COSAS leadership here in Sebetwane our duty is to rescue t young teachers that we have in our school teachers like Mr Lenner and Ms Lepedi and conscioutise them so that they will assist us to take COSAS forward. Also Thuso Thebe they must conscioutise young teachers that side so that they will help you to take your sub-branch forward. But not leave struggle in their hands alone.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Good leadership do heard rumors but do not act on rumors, Leadership born not made, you not elected because you famous but you elected because you have capacity and capability to lead organization. Good leadership knows that agreement reached through a process of discussion and debate is effective than agreement reached without discussion and debate and for my understanding leadership must have followers. You cannot lead organization by using your commonsense, you must guided by constitution and other documents. You can use your commonsense but that cannot make political sense and you cannot lead organization as if you runs supermarket. We must not be dictatorship but leadership and we must be loyal to the organization because if you loyal to me is another story. Good leadership treat all members equally.

We cannot have leadership that go around night woke municipal mayer demand money and transport for their personal gains, which is misconduct, we cannot afford to lead by that type of leadership that is power hunger and abuse power. I hope we will never electe that type of leadership again because their nothing but trouble to the revolution, we cannot lead by counter revolution, leadership that cause havoc that type of leadership is threat to the revolution. I didn't mean to hurt anyone but this is nothing but truth we cannot afford to lead by the following comrades: Cde Malebogo Lethobeng and Cde Moreetse Mosimaneeng.

TATA Madiba said I quote  "our generation fought against apartheid regim. The generation of now have the responsibility to fight against liberation and defend democracy".

COSAS National Statement

Statement by the congress of south African students (COSAS)

The Congress of south African students (COSAS) invites members of the media to the launch of  "200 schools in 200 days"  campaign joint together with the BDSSA arranged as follows:

Date: 12 June 2015
Venue is in  Soweto (Moletsane Sports ground)

On this month commemorating the fearless generation of 1976 the organization will use this month to reclaim the day June 16 we however believe that June 16 should be student day not a youth day our formation in 1979 as the congress of south African students was influenced by the students uprising in 1976. Will also on the day of the launch of 200 days in 200 schools have a procession of a march to the venue where the launching will be taking place as part of paying tribute to the fearless students activists and the radical generation of 1976. Continuesly will on this June month intiate programs forging a war and making a clarion call against those rascals who displays our school uniforms in tarvens intoxicating alcohol saying they are celebrating June 16 we have however leant with concerns that each and every year south Africans celebrate June 16 like a festive season as the beacon of hope of the students advocating the interests of the students in pre tertiary level we find this acts very mediocre and we shall fight to the bitter end June 16 a students day no uniform shall be displayed in tarvens our uniform stands for academic excellence and its dignity shall be restored it needs to be respected. As an organization representing students of south Africa in pre tertiary level we will reclaim this day in each and every plartform we get it was a students uprising not a youth uprising we believe the students of south Africa deserves recognition in regards to the fearless mandate they vested to fight the apartheid accumulation regime Bantu education system. On our "200 schools in days" members of the National executive commitee of COSAS will be out doing school visit after the launch of the 200 hundred days in 200 schools campaign together with the BDSSA as we continue pledging our solidarity with the people of Palestine.

South African Youth And Students History

The Congress of South African
Students (COSAS) was established
in June 1979 as a national
organization to represent the
interests of Black school students
in the wake of the Soweto
uprisings. During its formation the
South African Student Movement
(SASM) and other organizations of
the Black Consciousness (BC)
movement were banned by the
apartheid government. COSAS
organized students at secondary
and night schools, as well as
technical, teacher training and
correspondence colleges. Soon
after their formation, the
organisation set up branches in
the Eastern Cape, Western Cape,
Transvaal, Orange Free State and
Natal. Branches in the various
provinces were set up with the aid
of executive members specifically
deployed into the various regions
for that purpose. Other student
organizations also assisted COSAS
with establishing its branches in
their areas.
Initially a BC orientated
organization, a year after its
formation COSAS became the first
organization to declare its support
of the Freedom Charter. Its first
president, Ephrahim Mogale was
actually a clandestine member of
the African national Congress
(ANC) and was later to be
convicted of furthering the aims of
the ANC. At the time of its
formation the ANC was banned
along other liberation movements
under the Unlawful Organisations
Act. A guiding principle for COSAS
was the view that the ANC was the
authentic liberation movement of
South Africa. In its first two years
COSAS took up two
commemorative campaigns that
authorities saw as ANC-
supporting; the 1979 hanging of
uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) guerrilla
Solomon Mahlangu and the
centenary of the Zulu victory over
British troops at Isandhlwana.
The organization’s principle aims
were the conscientising of students
and the wider community to the
repressive nature of education in
South Africa, and to participate in
the drawing up of an educational
charter for a future, non-racial
democratic education system. Its
view was that a democratic
education system could only be
achieved in a democratic society
based on the will of all the people.
It recognized that Bantu Education
was aimed at controlling and
indoctrinating youth and that this
could only be changed by
transforming the country’s entire
political system. Although it was
primarily education focused,
COSAS identified the relationship
between educational and social
transformation in its statement of
beliefs:
•Students must be organized
through democratically elected
SRCs ·
•Students must serve the
community, we are members of
society before we are students and
thereby show that students can
play a progressive role in the
broad democratic alliance
•In serving the community, there
must be a recognition that
students play only a limited role in
the overall struggle
•The duty of the students was to
lend support to trade unions and
community organizations.
In 1982, COSAS adopted the
theme; “Student-worker action”
and promoted the formation of
youth congresses to serve the
interests of young workers and
unemployed youth. These
facilitated cooperation between
school students, young workers
and the unemployed youth. This
had the dual effect of drawing
COSAS into issues which affected
young workers and the unemployed
youth, and drawing the congresses
into school-related struggles. The
organization provided essential
support to striking workers and
community struggles around
issues such as transport increases,
rent hikes and the like.

Online
In 1983, the COSAS welcomed the
formation of the United Democratic
Front (UDF) and played a key role
in the formation of the regional
UDF structures in all of the
provinces. It saw the UDF as
representing a common platform to
fight for a free and democratic
South Africa.
In its early years, COSAS, focused
on educational issues but with its
alliance to the UDF, by the end of
1984, its students were making
demands around educational as
well as political issues.
Throughout the 1980s, under the
banner of COSAS students have
staged a variety of resistance
tactics like boycotts, strikes,
negotiated and laid down
demands. In Cradock, Eastern
Cape students from seven schools
boycotted the transfer of Mathew
Goniwe, a teacher and anti-
apartheid activist. Goniwe was
being transferred by the
Department of Education and
training (DET) to be a principal at
a school in Graaf-Reinet.

According to Bahman 2003, the
decision to transfer Goniwe was
part of a plan to remove him from
his community as he was seen as
a strong opponent and champion
of the residents. Two years (1985)
later Goniwe was assassinated
together with Fort Calata, Sparrow
Mkonto and Sicelo Mhlauli on
what became known as ‘Cradock
Four’. On 14 February 1984, a 15
year old student, Emma Sathekge
was killed and scores were injured
when police clashed with pupils
boycotting classes as they were
demanding, among other things
the removal of the age-limit law
and the right to form Student
Representative Council’s (SRC).
Emma Sathekge was killed in the
black township of Atteridgeville,
Pretoria. Her funeral was attended
by more than 10 000 mourners. At
the funeral, the COSAS speaker
Tlhabane Mogashoa said; “We will
prove in action that Bantu
education is evil. We will revolt
against it until it has been utterly
scrapped, dumped on the junk-bin
of history and buried once and for
all.”
At Minerva High School in
Alexandra Township boycotting
students were given a right to form
SRC. The students boycott on age-
limit law spread countrywide. The
recommendations by the age-limit
law were rejected by students as
from the inception in 1981.

By the end of 1984, it had
succeeded in drawing community
support for the students struggle
when it successfully called on the
community to participate in the
Transvaal regional stay-away.
Demands made by the
organization included:
•The withdrawal of the SADF and
police from the townships
•Cessation of rent and bus-fare
increases
•Resignation of all community
councillors
•Unconditional release of all
political prisoners and detainees
•Reinstatement of dismissed
workers
•Educational reform
•The termination of unfair tax
discrimination

By 1985, school boycotts had
rendered the schools unworkable
and ungovernable and mirrored the
collapse of the Black Local
Authorities in the townships. Their
slogan “Liberation now, Education
later!” saw chaos in schools
across the country and resulted in
the National Education Crisis
Committee being formed in 1986.
Eventually COSAS was banned in
mid 1985 as the state of
emergency was declared by South
African government. At the
inaugural conference of the UDF,
COSAS claimed a membership of
44 branches nationally and by the
end of 1984 it had developed a
well organized structure with
branches in nearly 50 centres
around the country, with the
majority of its membership coming
from the Eastern Cape and the
Southern Transvaal. By the time of
its banning in 1985, it was
estimated that the organization
enjoyed the support of almost 3
million students, or more than half
the country’s Black students.
However, COSAS continued to play
an active role although it was
banned. The organisation helped
to establish South African Youth
Congress (SAYCO) which was
secretly established in Cape Town
in 1987. During the resistance
campaign, launched by extra-
parliamentary groups under the
auspices of the Mass Democratic
Movement (MDM) in August 1989,
COSAS unbanned itself. On 2
February 1990, President F.W. de
Klerk announced the release of
Nelson Mandela and unban of
liberation movements. In May
1990 the organisation was
reinstated at Orlando Stadium,
Soweto. On the same occasion
Rapu Molekane, general secretary
of Sayco, said that COSAS should
support the process of negotiation
in South Africa. According to
Molekane, "people's education"
can be brought about only by the
transfer of political power to the
people. He supported the ANC's
re-quest for discipline during the
struggle. At the same time the
publicity secretary of COSAS, Mike
Dube, gave an exposition of the
organisation's re-building process.
In October 1990 two of COSAS's
management members joined the
Provisional National Youth
Committee, established to
reactivate the ANC Youth League
(ANCYL).

Tefu Mashamaeti

A former Kaizer Chiefs captain himself, Patrick Mabedi has a few insights on Amakhosi’s current captain, Tefu Mashamaite. What kind of leader does Mabedi think ‘Masha’ is, and does Mabedi think he deserves to retain the captain’s armband even when Khune is once again playing regularly for the team?Soccer Laduma: Tefu Mashamaite was made Kaizer Chiefs’ captain in the absence of Itumeleng Khune. What has been your impression of his performances as captain so far?Patrick Mabedi:He has done very well. I know he started slowly with his career at the team, but after being given a chance by Coach Baxter, he has proven that he is a good defender. He has done very well and his partnership with Mathoho has been excellent for the team and for him as a player. SL: What does it take it to be Kaizer Chiefs’ captain?PM:It is hard to be captain of a big brand like Chiefs. It needs someone who is a natural born leader who has a big heart. From what I have seen, Tefu has a big heart and he commands his teammates very well. You also need to understand the needs of the team and make sure you are results oriented.SL: Do you think Mashamaite has all those attributes?PM:As I have said, I think he has done very well as a player since joining the team and he has risen well in his position. He has proven that he can lead the team and work very well with the other players, which is very important if you are the captain. I think he has done very well. SL: How difficult is it being a captain when there are so many other top-class players in the team?PM:It's hard, not just at Chiefs but at any team. You have to communicate with all the players in the same way, whether they are a big name player or just a young guy. You have to be strong mentally, as well as mix and talk well with the players. SL: Do you think Chiefs would miss him if he decided not to re-sign with them after his contract expires in June?PM:Oh, yes! He has proven that they need him in the team and, knowing Chiefs, they will make sure that they keep him at the club. But if they don't hold on to him, it will be a big loss for the team.

Re-burial of Cde JB Marks

Descendants, friends and comrades
of the late African National
Congress (ANC) and South African
Communist Party (SACP) stalwart,
JB Marks, are paying homage to
him as they prepare to lay his
remains to rest in his home town
of Ventersdorp in the North West.
They have all gathered at the
family home for a valedictory
service on Sunday morning.
Marks’ reburial ceremony, which
will also be attended by President
Jacob Zuma, is expected to take
place at the Tshing Sports
Grounds later.
Halima Marks, the granddaughter
of the late ANC stalwart, says she
is grateful that the remains of her
grandfather will finally be laid to
rest in the country he fought for.
“From the Marks family, we are
grateful for what the government
has done, we are extremely happy
yet emotional,” says Halima.
Marks’ great granddaughter,
Emlynne Duarte (13), says she
feels proud to be related to the late
Marks.
“We are happy his remains are
brought back, because it is very
sad for someone to die away from
home,” says Duarte.
Marks passed away in 1972 in
Moscow, Russia.

Message of encouragement

I like to take this moment to encourage young people and older people.

We as people we must learn to be patient because patience paid. We must not fold our arms doing nothing. We must not let people to discourage us. We must always be positive so that things will be positive in our side, we must not be negative so that things will not be negative.

FAIL is first attempt in learning, we not fail because we stupid we fail because we not take our school work serious. We must study "SMART" not  "HARD" so that our school work will be smart not hard.

We must form study groups so that we will cover up what we taught and that can can make you to improve your performance and passing rate in general.

Our concerns as COSAS leadership

We as students leadership we must
rescue our members against
harassment and we must not let
teachers date learners, if teacher date
learner he/she must resign, if he/she
don't do that we can help her/him to
do so, we are not apologetic no one
must pay, now is time to act, if funds
that department of education is
allocating is not enough is not our
problem or our parents. We must act
whether teachers like us or not, we
must make our members happy not
teachers and we must correct this
things of suspension without warning
in our schools, I quote from freedom
charter "The doors of learning and
culture shall be opened, Education
shall be free, compulsory, universal
and equal for all children".

Matters that concerns myself.

I like to take this moment to express myself in the matter concerns myself, I wouldn't let my failure to discourage me but to encourage, if you fail to do something, know that is not end of the world, to fail is give you chance to correct what you've done wrong,  don't focus on negative but focus on positive and don't let anyone to discourage you. People will always talk whether you done wrong/good things but don't let them to discourage yourself, this earth has many challenges that we must pass through so that we will be better men and women in the future. We must not let our past to discourage us, we must not focus on the past, we must focus on present and future to redress wrong things that we/same people done, when you woke up in the morning you forgiven in what you've done yesterday, we learn to accept things that we cannot change. We must not let environment that we live in to discourage us, we must appreciate what we get little/more, we must focus on how we can make South Africa better than it is presently, we must unite so that we will achieve what we want to achieve in side of education and educational matters that concerns us as learners, members of students organization and leadership. We must reject policies/legislatures that not benefit us (students/learners), our education system is very poor especially in the rural areas, villages, farms and township, if we compares township, rural areas, villages and farms education is not equal compared to town education, as young people leadership and members we must correct that inequality that we facing in our country and infrastructure. Once our former COSAS president (HLOLOGELO LETHABO COLLEN MALTJI) sing that powerful song "UNITY IS THE POWER" I belief on that song, we must work as collective to make education fashionable and build healthy environment in our schools, here is the question that I asked myself on day "COSAS is relevant? " yes, is relevant because we have lot to do in terms of education. When it come to service delivery is disaster and we cannot keep quite hence things is wrong. Education is our first priorit as COSAS and we cannot ignore that fact, COSAS must be in all South African schools, when it come History is teaching in our schools is not relevant, History of our schools must be about COSAS and other organizations that fought against Apartheid. Historically COSAS is the first organization to sign Freedom Charter that state that in terms of education "Education shall be free, compulsory, universal and equal for all children; Higher education and technical training shall be opened to all by means of state allowances and scholarship awarded on the basis of merit; the aim of education shall be to teach the youth to love their people and their culture, to honour human brotherhood, liberty and peace".

COSAS STATEMENT OF JANUARY 2015

COSAS Statement January 2015:

The Congress of South African Students has noted with utter dismay the announcement on two provinces Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal Province, facing a possibility of having their results withheld after allegations of group cheating in the provinces in question. The organization has received the information in complete concern as matric results in South Africa are already being released very late and have a negative impact in terms of necessary planning for matriculants the following year including the selection process of students for entry into universities. The department of basic education needs to work closely with the department of higher education to ensure that should results of the provinces in question be withheld there is a plan in place to ensure they are not excluded from the selection process in university entries.

The Congress of South African Students continues to question as to where invigilators and monitors were when exams were taking place, we believe if there was any form of unwarranted cheating it should have been detected during the exams and dealt with there and then. The reality that the alleged cheating has been detected during marking of the scripts and has led to a need for investigations shows that during the process of guarding the examination process there was negligence be it intentional or unintentional. Our main worry and concern remains that of the many other matriculants who may not be linked in any way to this debacle who will have they lives on a stand still. We are totally against gap years as they lead to young people having a whole year of being direction less to themselves giving them time to get involved in unprogressive activities be it crime or any other form. As an organization we stand by, even the learners who may have copied, the department of basic education needs to tell us as to what will the plan be for them should they be found guilty, proper arrangements must be in place in order to ensure that in the end they get their matric certificates, be it through rewrites or other possible ways.

Students are running out of patience on the continued scandals that are taking place within the department of basic education, the carelessness and lack of responsibility in the different levels of the department results to a need for crisis management all the time. We are of the knowledge that education is a priority in our country and this should reflect in all activities of the department of basic education. As an organization we are still saying there should be a complete cut off on the publication of matric results. The department of basic education has agreed with us that publication of matric results is incorrect and our call was that of a total banishment of it.

The act of the department of basic education of changing the method only after admitting that it is wrong to publish results leaves us with suspense as to whom exactly is benefiting from profits made in the sales of newspapers and whether this is not a money scheme where certain people in the department of basic education are benefiting. The department of basic education cannot publicize critical information such as identity numbers of minors as it is a disaster waiting to happen and again will lead to yet another crisis, we are all aware of the high rate of crime in our country which will feast in this mistake by the department. We are not going to allow anyone to sell ID numbers of students for Three Rands by the robots. Shops and garages must also be aware. The organization this year is filing a court application against publication of matric results.

To all South African I hope you will enjoy yourselves this special day, take care for yourselves, may God rescue you all the time, I hope this year will be different as compared to last year, I hope year is year of success, if your mindset is positive you will do and get positive things but if your mindset is negative you will do and get negative things, do let people's opinion to let you down, you can make it if you say you can make it but if you say you cannot make it you can't make it, everything is possible if you say so.You must know that this earth has full of challenges that you must face, Mr Mochware former of Sebetwane Secondary School principal once said I quote "ja monate gore o sotlhege, sotlhalega gore o je monate".
